2025 Lake Macquarie Report Reveals Critical Mismatch in Housing Supply

The document highlights the need for more diverse and affordable housing solutions in the Lake Macquarie region which is experiencing a mismatch in housing demand and supply, leading to a significant shortfall in affordable housing availability.
Safe Haven for Older Women Facing Homelessness
Pacific Link Housing has announced a significant increase in the availability of safe, temporary accommodation for older women facing homelessness in Lake Macquarie. A disused aged care facility owned by Anglican Care has been transformed into ‘Tingira House’. This property now offers 20 studio units with access to communal lounges, kitchens, laundry facilities and gardens, all tailored for women over 55. As the region’s first ‘meanwhile use’ project of this type, it not only re-purposes a vacant property but also provides safe, secure, temporary homes to one of the community’s most vulnerable groups.
$20 Million Domestic Violence Trauma Recovery Centre for the Central Coast
A $20 million bipartisan Federal commitment has been announced to fund the delivery of a Domestic Violence Women and Children’s Trauma Centre on the Central Coast, in response to a proposal by Pacific Link Housing and the Central Coast Community Women’s Health Centre, following extensive advocacy efforts across the sector.
More support for Central Coast women facing homelessness
Pacific Link Housing were proud to welcome Minister Rose Jackson to Allawah House, a collaborative ‘meanwhile use’ project delivered in partnership with Women’s Community Shelters’ and Homes NSW. Located on the Central Coast, Allawah House provides a safe, supportive environment for women facing homelessness, by repurposing a vacant aged care facility into a place of dignity and hope.
